Insecurity bites!

Insecurity bites!

People you know can be easily jealous, especially in the office or school where everyone is competing.  They say that competition brings out the best in everyone, but be careful of these top 10 signs of insecurity!

8. Nakikipag-kumpitensiya siya sayo sa lahat ng bagay.  As in kung bago ang sapatos mo, bibili rin siya ng bagong sapatos!

9. Hindi ka niya ipagtatanggol kapag nagkagipitan na.  Ididiin ka pa niya!

The most common is:

Tandaan huwag maging stalker, maraming chicks dyan!

Die Posers Die!

Copy+Paste

According to urbandictionary.com posers are one who pretends to be someone whose not.  In reality posers are a dime a dozen, and here are some of the characteristics of a Pinoy poser:

1. Pa-English English kahit peke ang accent.

Know it all kumbaga.

Marami pang characteristics of a poser, comment on this blog post so I can add it to the list.

Pa-English English ka pa, sipain kita diyan eh!

Happy love month guys, here are some Suplado Tips for February 2012.

3. Umakting na walang pakialam kapag may kaguluhang nangyayari, para isipin ng tao na cool ka lang all the time!

Here’s a dose of Pogi Points for February.

1. Huwag mong hayaang ma-bore ang ka-date mo, kailangan meron kayong something in-common na pinag-uusapan... Kagaya ng pagkain, hobbies, & etc.

My Workstation

I just wanted to share my workstation to everyone, this is the place where I work, blog, write jokes, and draw my comic strips.  Thanks to my brother Richmond for the photos.

 My Workstation

As you can see, I have a limited space for my books, drawing materials and gadgets so I always need to do some spring cleaning every year.

My WorkstationMy Workstation

I have 3 large containers that has all my past artworks, book and comic collections, and other stuff in the room which I plan to sort out in a few months time.

I hope your workstation is not as disorganized as mine, just keep your important stuff in places that you’ll be able to remember.  Make sure you’re comfortable in your workstation, because you will be working here for quite some time.

Work, enjoy, rest, then play!

Health is Wealth

This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

Health is wealth. The meaning of that is two-fold: you spend to stay healthy, but you spend even more when you get sick. It’s just logical that if you want to spend less, it’s best to invest in your health before sickness comes knocking at your door.

But how do you avail of medications without breaking the bank? Over-the-counter drugs nowadays are so expensive. There are discount coupons and promos you can avail of, of course. There are also health memberships, such as Walgreens Prescription Savings Club, that allows you to buy prescription drugs at discounted prices.

A family membership will cost $10. Coverage will include you, your partner (spouse), and dependents – as long as they are 22 years old and younger. And by “dependents”, I also mean all your beloved pets. Now, even your cats and dogs will have health coverage!

If you’re flying solo, you will pay $5 for a yearly membership. Walgreens has over 8000 drugs, generic and even those with brand names. They also give discounts on health supplies for asthmatics and diabetics. Bonuses also apply when you buy from their own Walgreens branded products, including their photofinishing services.

If you want to hear more about Walgreens and their memberships and benefits, like Walgreens on Facebook. If you have Twitter, you can also follow Walgreens on Twitter.

Suplado Society of the Philippines

Two years ago I thought of creating a mock group for suplado people, I was surprised when I made a survey on Facebook on who would like to join the Suplado Society of the Philippines.  After numerous requests, I created a logo.  Those who joined and made the logo a part of their Facebook profile pictures for a month became members of the SSP.

I even wrote an SSP oath which was included in Suplado tips book 1, and  was recited during the book launch last May 21, 2011.  Here’s the SSP oath for all the members and people who wanted to join the group:

Suplado Society of the Philippines

Wanna join the SSP?  Use the SSP logo as part of your profile picture till March 2012, the induction of new members will be at the Suplado Tips 2 book launch.  Check out my website for updates on the schedule, as we will all gather for the SSP Eyeball party at National bookstore Shangri-la mall this March 2012.

A sense of belonging

A sense of belonging

Joining a group in the office is a bit hard especially if you’re not welcome in that circle,  a lot of patience is needed.  There are groups who judge you based on your character, what you wear, how you talk, or how influencial you are.  Here are the type of groups where you might wanna belong to:

A sense of belonging

The Horsemen

Are your parents influencial that you don’t need to work from 9 to 5 in the office?  This is a group where money talks and Rolex watches are just a simple accessory in your wardrobe, cars are the toys for the big boys.

  A sense of belonging

The Rednecks

Being street smart and simple, that’s what’s this group is all about.  Ordinary people who have regular jobs and spend the weekends trying to rest, because of the hectic week in the office.  They know the value of money, just be careful because these people are the type who will envy you because of your success.

A sense of belonging

The Nation

This group is based on your religion or race, at least you have one thing in common.  You might not like it, but these are the ones who will support you when you have no one else to turn to.  People who have the same beliefs help one another, unless envy or insecurity knocks at their door.

A sense of belonging

The Radicalz

Newbies stick together, whether you are the newly hired or a student trainee in the office.  These friendships are temporary because of the fact that one of you will get hired and the others are going to be in other companies.

If you are already in a group then good for you, but there are loners who are just doesn’t work well with others are you one of these individuals?

A sense of belonging

The Silent Type

You work and leave, no camaraderie, you just doing your job and that’s it.

A sense of belonging

The Weird One

No one knows what’s on your mind, they tried to let you in the group but somewhere along the way you freaked them out.

A sense of belonging

The Outspoken S.O.B.

What you see is what you get, you don’t really care if you hurt their feelings as long as you tell the truth.  A sense of belonging

The Lionheart

You’re so focused on your career that you only look out for yourself, money is important that you don’t really care about your contemporaries.

These are just some of the people that you might encounter at work, choose your friends and the people who you want to associate yourself with.  Work buddies are temporary just like office hours are only from 9 to 5, unless you want to work overtime.

80’s Comedy Movies

Betamax tape rentals are big during the 80’s, and growing up I watched some of the funniest teen movies that were available.  Now teen movies can be downloaded on the internet, comedy series are shown on cable, the humor is still there but I can’t help but recognize some of their influences.

Here are some of the best teen comedy films during the 80’s:

80’s Teen MoviesRevenge of the nerds

Way before the Big Bang Theory, these nerds ruled the box office.  It’s about nerds who want to join a fraternity,  I remember the sequels where in the antagonist actually became a nerd.

80’s Teen Movies

Zapped

Scott Baio of Charles in charge, starred in this film.  It’s about a student who had powers that every guy would want to have.  Check it out, this is actually the movie that made David Pomeranz famous in the Philippines.  The theme song became a national anthem in every student’s prom night.

80’s Teen Movies

Police Academy

Mahoney and the gang are new police officers, these bunch of misfits prove their worth while giving out a few laughs.  The sequels are also quite popular, thanks to the great casting and funny moments.  Move it, move it!

80’s Teen Movies

Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure

Way before Wayne’s World and Dumb and Dumber was Bill and Ted.  A young Keanu Reeves with the legendary George Carlin made this film a must see!

80’s Teen Movies

Teen Wolf

Michael J. Fox, was popular during the 80’s and this is one of the films that made him a star.  Of course, Back to the future was also a hit but Teen Wolf is way funnier!

These are just some of the comedy films that made my teenage years quite enjoyable, I hope you can get to watch it too.  Long live teen comedy movies.

Collecting comics as a hobby

I’ve been collecting comics since grade school and one of the first few comics that I bought was Spectacular Spiderman, Incredible Hulk, and Fantastic Four.  I collected Hulk back then because I was a fan of Dale Keown’s artworks, I was hooked with Batman because of the Knightfall storyline, and of course there was Image comics’ Spawn and Pitt.

I stopped collecting comics because I disliked the artworks of some artists, but I briefly went back to collecting comics because of Jim Lee’s Hush storyline in Batman.  I got a few trade paperbacks, some gave it to me as a gift.

Right now I still buy comics because of the new DC 52, as I grow older the storylines are more important,  artworks second.  That’s why I want to recommend 5 new titles from the new DC universe, I collect most of these comics because of the stories and I can’t help but be amazed by the art.

Here are my recommended titles for the New DC 52:

Collecting comics as a hobbyAnimal Man

One of the surprise hits of the New 52, I was intrigued by the cover of the first issue and I was a fan of Grant Morrison’s run that’s why I bought this title.  Chilling and scary, Jeff Lemire and Travel Foreman made Animal Man one of my new favorite characters in comics!

Collecting comics as a hobbyBatman

Scott Snyder’s take on Batman is a must read, the court of owls is a new adversary that Batman must face.  I do hope that I see more of the Talon in the future.  The Black Mirror storyline from Detective Comics is also one of the best Batman stories in years,  Snyder also penned the series.

Collecting comics as a hobby

Aquaman

Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis made Aquaman cool again, no longer a laughing stock but a powerhouse in the DCU.   Check out the king of Atlantis as he takes his rightful place as one of the most important characters in comics!

Collecting comics as a hobby

Detective Comics

The Dollmaker is a new character that Tony Daniel created in order to match wits with Batman, add in the Joker to the mix and you’ll have a comic book classic!  The 1st 4 issue are a good read, Tony Daniel continues to impress me with both his writing skills and art.  I’m looking forward for the Riddler to have a bigger role in the Bat books.

There are more books in the new DC 52 that I want to read, but I need to cut down my titles because of budget concerns, maybe next time.  I sure hope you can grab a copy if these comic books.

Make mine DC!
